Scott Greenberg, also know as “The Vine Guy”, was the nationally syndicated wine columnist for the DC Examiner newspaper and former “Wine of the Week” correspondent for WTOP radio in Washington, DC. Each week, Scott’s articles appeared in over 260,000 homes throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area while his radio spot reached over 750,000 listeners every Friday afternoon.
Today, The Vine Guy podcast features interviews with interesting wine producers, winemakers, and wine collectors in a very down to earth, easy-going style. He was recently described by another wine colleague as the “Dave Barry of Wine Writers,” and thought it was a “tasteful” compliment.
Scott is involved in several wine writer associations and wine tasting groups. He is also a frequently sought after wine lecturer and judge. He has taught a series for the Smithsonian Associates program on North American Wineries, and lectures on cruise ships (his favorite thing!) whenever his schedule allows.
Many of Scott and Cindy’s articles are archived on the WTOP News website, (key word: wine of the week).
He is an avid collector but enjoys discovering unknown gems for his listeners. Scott and his wife, Cindy, have three adult boys, a rescue dog named Friankie, and more than a few bottles of wine. They reside in Park City, Utah where fly fishing often proves a major distraction, since Scott spends many frustrating hours trying to prove – unsucessfully – that he is actually smarter than a trout.
Scott is a partner in the Bethesda, MD based insurance brokerage/consulting firm Greenberg, Wexler & Eig
