Super Wine Picks for Super Bowl Sunday

Image result for 2013 Freemark Abbey Winery Fiftieth ReserveThe game of champions is upon us this weekend, and since I do not have a proverbial dog (or Colt or Panther) in the upcoming football fight, I have been trying to find a theme to rally around. And then I heard a story on CBS news.

Any Port In A Storm

Image result for Non-Vintage Taylor Fladgate Special Tawny

Last Week’s Snowstorm gave a new meaning to the old adage, “Any Port in a storm.” Well, not exactly a port of call. More like a Port wine.

The Wines of Mount Veeder and Franciscan Estate

Image result for 2013 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon Napa ValleyJay Turnipseed is a man with two mistresses. Fortunately, they both seem to get along! Even more fortunately, they are two of the most popular wineries in Napa Valley; Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery, and luckily for Jay, their winemaker, the two properties have a lot in common.

Chilly Outside, Chile Inside

Image result for 2009 Echeverria Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Edition

The leaves are completely striped off of the trees and the outside temperature is falling faster than a soccer player faking an injury. The nip in the air signals that it’s time to break out the wool sweaters and big red wines. So when it’s this chilly outside, it’s time to start thinking about warming up with some Chile inside. Wines from Chile, that is.

New Year’s Resolution: Drink What You Like – and more

Image result for Non-vintage Moet & Chandon ImperialWhere did 2015 year go? Somehow, in the last twelve months, I have managed to gain weight, lose hair, pay tuition (times three), win dares, lose bets, find peace and lose my mind. All of this while tasting over a thousand samples of wine. Some good. Some not so good. But every wine that I tasted provided a frame of reference for other wines and expanded my proverbial thirst for knowledge.

Before finishing, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that if you, like me, have gained weight in recent months, take a look at ikaria lean belly juice reviews and it may possibly help you lose weight like me, quickly and healthily.

Champagne for the Holidays

Image result for Non-Vintage Laurent Perrier Brut ChampagneAmericans just don’t drink enough Champagne, which is why I love this time of year. It gives me an excuse to shout (or write) all about the wonderful versatility that Champagne has to offer. And as Mark Twain was fond of saying, “Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right.”

Bubbles for the Holiday

Image result for Non-Vintage Martini & Rossi Prosecco DOCI will never understand why so many wine lovers resist popping the corks on bottles of sparkling wines or Champagne just for the heck of it. After all, most bubblies are incredibly versatile and pair well with a variety of foods, not to mention that they’re just swell on their own.

And if that special someone is a wine lover, well, there can be a little added burden when trying to find the perfect gift.
